Akshay Kumar: 'Amitabh is the king!
For some time now there has been enough and more speculation about the simmering Big B-SRK war. Industry insiders have been insisting that the battle lines have been drawn and actors and filmmakers are being forced to make a choice.
Of course there are some who have been making conscious decisions about which side they want to take. And from what it seems, Akshay Kumar is one of them. Over the last few weeks, the actor has been very steadily and surely making his loyalties clear.
He is said to have jumped on to the Unforgettable tour at the last minute and performed with them recently in the Canada leg of the tour.
At the press conference of Singh is Kinng in Mumbai on Wednesday, Akshay Kumar went a step ahead and spelt it out. "For me, there is only one king of Bollywood – Amitabh Bachchan," he declared in a packed media meet.
While the veiled statement got the press all excited, Akshay remained nonchalant, almost straight faced. He went on to explain just why he thought so highly about Amitabh Bachchan, "He has been the king for the last 35-40 years now! He is consistent and so down to earth!"
When the floor was thrown open to the media, an enterprising journalist asked him if he understood the implications of the statement. "This is what I believe. I don't care much about what people make of it," he replied.
The actor was very evidently in the mood to face all sorts of questions and no one seemed to be complaining.
