Biggies of Kollywood Top 2008 Pictures
With its previous exclusive, Kollywood Today had got the hits and misses of 2008 till May. Now, we are enthralled in getting the most expected movies in forthcoming days of this month. Big flicks with big budgets and bold themes and different star casts, Interesting isn’t? Kollywood will start experiencing not just different films, but a different trend indeed of more directors turning into heroes. Come on! Cheer up yourselves before you glimpse through each and every biggie.
1. Dasavatharam – Ulaganayagan doesn’t need any intro and so does the movie. It has been a scintillating story ever since the movie was launched and so will it be till the release date. Made at the budget of more than Rs. 60 Crore, the storyline travels from 12th – 21st century where a statue plays important equally to that of Kamal Haasan.
2. Kuselan – Here comes, Superstar again before kick-starting with his mega-budget Robot directed by Shankar. A remake of Malayalam movie Katha Parayumpol starring Mamooty and Srinivasan in lead role. The original version had the lead characters playing barber role and indeed to suit his real life incidents, superstar has made it has drive and bus conductor. Directed by P. Vasu and produced by Rajni’s mentor K.Balachandar, the film is made bilingually in Tamil and Telugu. Hoorah! We think you will have Vijay, Ajith, Vikram, Surya, Vishal and all Kollywood stars dancing with superstar for a song.
3. Aegan – Shah Rukh and Ajith seems to have sharing more similarities. One reason could by the stylish, sleek looks that they can deliver easily and emoting to different situations are the same. Don and Billa has now turned into Main Hoon Naa and Aegan. Ajith plays an undercover investigative officer who joins a college as a student for a mission. Rest of the films will move in a happy enjoyable ambience with lots of college fundas and galattas. Nayanthara on the female lead role and Navdeep as Ajith’s brother and Suman performing important character.
4. Ayan – Surya with six packs has a great thunder not just for his girl fans, but also for the guys. Directed by K.V. Anand and produced by AVM Productions, the director has promised that Chennai will be depicted in different tone and color. Wow! That sounds interesting…
5. Sathyam – Hopping from usual commercial kind of roles, Vishal now takes a challenging role as an encounter specialist with Nayanthara as journalist. Rajashekar directs the movie and Kollywood Superstar Upendra dons villain role. Musical score by Harris Jayaraj will add more to the film.
6. Naan Kadavul – A movie being shot for over than 3 years has finally come to an end. You ask us how we know it? Yup! Its because Arya has shaved his beard and trimmed his long hair. Post production works have kick-started and soon will the film hit the screens. Bala known for presenting a movie with difference will follow the same sort.
7. Kandasamy – Robin Hood and Anniyan mixed together is what Kandasamy would be. But, a director goes successful if he/she makes the same kind of movies, but with a different approach for audiences. We are sure that Susi Ganesh is off that sort. Vikram with different looks and gorgeous Shriya Charan will turn the youngsters with passion of fire kindled in.
8. Saroja - Four Ordinary people meet in an ordinary day and something unexpected and extraordinary happens. Saroja reminds us of Vantage point, Babel and 21 grams. We haven’t watched the movie, but the storyline reveals of it. Venkat Prabhu directs the film with Yuvan Shankar Raja scoring music.
9. Bommalattam – Bharathiraja still is working on the project and this would be a new trend in Kollywood. Arjun and Nana Patekar playing lead roles will have the story centered on life of a filmmaker and a murder mystery.
